About the School
Our Lady of Walsingham School was formed in September 2005 through the amalgamation of the separate Junior and Infant Schools that sheared the site.
The old Junior School was built in 1945 and was the first Catholic school in the town. The Infant block was built in 1964 and is a more adaptable teaching space.
We have a large playground and secure site, which includes a good playing field and separate playground for our Foundation Stage. The local parish church is adjacent to the school and is regularly used for school Masses and Services.
Currently most of the teaching activities take place in the newer building. This is where daily assemblies are held and the school offices are allocated. The older building houses the staff room, an ICT suite, conference room and playgroup as well as a large hall for Music/PE/Drama. The local community value their school and are proud of its caring ethos, good discipline and Christian tradition.
Mission Statement
Our Lady’s Catholic Primary School is a faith community founded on Gospel values where all members are seen as made in God’s image and loved by God. Everyone is valued and respected as a unique, special and gifted individual. All pupils and staff in our school are helped to develop as whole people in body, mind and spirit, nurturing talents to reach full potential. We want to treat others as we would like others to treat us. We strive to be a happy school, an inclusive school and an improving school, with everyone working as a team – staff, children, governors, our parish and parents. We endeavour to be an influence for good in the wider community.
Aims
- To create a happy, stimulating and caring Catholic environment which will show the message of Christ within the community and where each child will feel valued and secure.
- To help children to learn that good manners, courtesy, tolerance and working together are very important qualities.
- To create an inclusive community where all members share a commitment towards the pursuit of high standards and understand their role in achieving them.
- To treat every child, parent, staff member and visitor with the respect that is rightfully theirs as children of God.
- To make all who come into our school welcome.
