Admissions Policy
Our Lady of Walsingham Catholic Primary School is promoted by the Diocese of Northampton and is maintained by Northamptonshire Local Education Authority.
The Governing Body of the school is responsible for determining and administering the policy relating to the admission of pupils to the school. It is guided in that responsibility by the requirements of the law, by the advice of the Diocesan Trustees, and is the duty to the school and the Catholic community.
The school primarily serves the parish of Our Lady of Walsingham.
Having consulted the local admission authorities in accord with legal requirements, the Governing Body has set, as its planned admissions numbers, 30 pupils for the school year commencing 2007/2008.
Parents wishing to apply for a place in the school for their child must complete both the NCC Application form and our school form.
Children with a Statement of Education Needs naming the school will be admitted in accordance with Northamptonshire policy and regulations.
The Governing Body will consider all applications according the criteria set out in the admission criteria without reference to the ability oraptitude of the child.
Admission Criteria
- Baptised Catholic children living in the Parish of Our Lady of Walsingham.
- Baptised Catholic children living outside Our Lady’s Parish.
- Christian children of other denominations.
- Children of other faith backgrounds whose parents are prepared to support the Christian ethos of the school.
Within each category places will be allocated in the following order:
- Looked after children.
- Siblings.
- In the event of two or more equal applications meeting all the above criteria, distance from the school will be used as the deciding factor, measured in a straight line from the school gates to the pupils’ home address.
