Welcome to our Foundation Stage blog.
Check here to see what we have been exploring and learning.
W/C 2nd July
We have had a really busy week in our new classrooms. It has been really exciting to find out what it will be like being big year 1s! We have been working hard learning about “The smartest giant in town” and “The Gruffalo”. It is lovely that our writing is already up on the wall ready to welcome us in September.
We will be returning to Mrs Geraghty and Mrs Wilson next week.
W/C 26th June
It has been fantastic to have had the year 1 teachers in our class this week. It has given us a chance to get to know our new teachers before we spend a week in our new classrooms. We have been impressing our new teachers with our hard work. We did some lovely work on the creation story. Check out our lovely water and land animals and our super writing.
W/C 12th June
Wow! It’s hard to believe we are two weeks into the last half term. We have been very busy with our FS garden. Check out the veggies when you are collecting your child. This term is all about “Pirates, Mermaids and Wild things” – we are going to be sinking and floating things and creating pirate ships, so junk modelling materials greatly appreciated.
Week commencing 15th May
FS have been busy practising for our assembly this week. Thank-you Mrs Inman for helping us to create a beautiful Noah’s Ark:
We really enjoyed having our “Happy Chick” eggs and watching them hatch and grow. We were sad to say goodbye but we have learned a lot about life cycles.
Week commencing 8th May
What an exciting week in Foundation Stage! Our eggs arrived and have all hatched into little fluffy chicks which we are looking forward to holding next week. Our eggs come fro The Happy Chick company who re-home all of the chickens to smallholders. However if we do have any parents interested in keeping the chickens speak to us before the end of next week.
Please feel free to pop in to see our chicks after school.
It was lovely to have Bobby from FACE(farming and countryside education) in class to talk to us about where milk comes from. We made our own delicious butter.
Week commencing 1st May
This week has flown by with only 4 school days. We are very excited indeed about our new arrivals coming next week! (Hatching eggs) This week we have been busy making potions in our potion shop and writing recipes. Thank-you to all our parents who drop in for “Reading with grown ups afternoons” and to parents who have come to our morning and afternoon drop-ins.
Week commencing 17th April
We all had a very busy first week back to school after the Easter holidays. The children enjoyed having bug week! We all went on a bug hunt around school and discussed the various creepy crawlies we found! We used our investigation skills to identify which creatures were insects.
On Wednesday we had a visit from Bugtopia, the children were very excited and we had the opportunity to look at lots of different creepy crawlies. Some of the children were brave enough to hold the bird eating tarantula Sally!
Thank-you to all the children who brought their beanstalk observations back. We were all very impressed with how big some had grown!
Week commencing 27th March
This week Foundation Stage have been very busy! Easter fun as well as lots of hard work. Check out our Facebook page to see the children’s beautiful bonnets.
The children have all planted a beanstalk and we would love it if they could keep track of how their beanstalk is growing over the holidays.
The children were very excited that the caterpillars are out. Tiny and very hungry!
Some of our children decided to make a caterpillar diary!
We hope you all have a lovely Easter break.
Week Commencing 20th March
Foundation Stage had a wonderful surprise this week…. silk worm eggs!
We will be observing closely everyday to see when our caterpillars emerge.
